Warfare Series by Madison Grace

I’m writing a series of historical novels called Warfare, set in the Edo period in Japan (with some historical liberties taken).

I’m focusing on the first book for now!

Warfare Book I

Assassin Kira Ashi wants nothing more than respect in a culture of death before dishonor. But when she’s captured by samurai and forced to work against the only person who made respect possible for her, she has to face her worst fear or let it hold her captive.

Those books sound so amazing!!! The literally sound like something a professional author would write. I’m not saying that you aren’t professional. It sounds like a book Margret Patterson Haddix or some one like that would write. But when the publisher read it, I can only imagine the look when they find out a 14 year old wrote it. 😮 It’ll be legendary! I hope you have fun writing your book!

OH MY WORD DESIGN MY COVERS PLEASE!

Lea: You don’t even know which one to publish first.

    SHUT UP LEA.

    Lea: O–kayy…

For your information, I’m seriously thinking about The Raven and the Sparrow.

    Lea: Fine then.

Haha, I’d love to design your covers except my schedule is so slammed that I’d probably get them to you super late! *facepalm*

          • kirstyntodd January 21, 2018 at 3:09 pm - Reply

Start designing, Madi! Whenever you got time. 😉

            The Raven and the Sparrow
Raven hates his twin sister. A lot. His twin sister hates him, too. A lot. They play a lot of nasty tricks on each other to show it. When Sparrow takes her revenge too far, the twins’ parents decide to send them on a correctional ship cruise for troubled children. Raven is determined to remain in a relationship of hatred toward his sister. But then something very bad happens to his sister, and suddenly his attitude changes. How could he hate her?

That was a really horrible description, but it gives you some info so you can design the right cover. 😉

I can’t wait! *rubs hands evilly* Your novel sounds awesome! The only thing I need is an image or two to work with — I’m not allowed to search Google for any images or anything, but I can edit them and add text and make it look as cool as possible! XD

Can you please explain to me what ideas you have in mind, though? I don’t know what to search for…

Some ideas for pictures I had are pictures of a ship, silhouette of a boy and a girl on a ship, or a silhouette of a boy and a girl.

*laughs morbidly* I just love torturing my characters, don’t you?

            *reassembles your exploded pieces*
AAHHH THE POOR LITTLE ARIKIDS THEY DESERVE BETTER.
If you do a speech impediment, since I actually researched Broca’s Aphasia after having to delete most everything on my WIP, I might be able to help you with that! It’ll be awhile before you write that, and Broca’s Aphasia probably wouldn’t quite fit the criteria, but I could probably help you portray his speech disability? And also, a speech problem is NOT a small thing. You can’t communicate correctly and it’s hard for everyone, and as the son of a warrior king and queen who go on missions, it might be hard for him to follow in his parent’s footsteps. And also PUBERTY because of the mood swings will be FUUN with a speech disability (though really Puberty with Ari and Hinoki’s Child will be interesting even if he doesn’t speak correctly:P) A facial deformity is kinda a big deal, yes, but speech impediments are worse.
And that’s what happens when Blue actually does research. Fear her.:P
And yes I LOVE torturing my poor little characters. My character September (who happens to be the one with Broca’s Aphasia) actually has a miscarriage too, but under different circumstances. Ari and September would probably get along well.
Lastly, if you haven’t already, you should try the Duolingo thing I showed you when we sprinted together, because personally I think that at least knowing some hiragana, some katakana, and some kanji will go a long way in what you’re writing. Same goes for any book set in a country that mainly uses a language other than English, or a bilingual character. And maybe you could get it to be part of your schoolwork, I’m sure a foreign language is a good thing to add to your curriculum, and just 2 lessons a day would probably only take 10-20 minutes, and it’s FUN. That’s the only reason I’m still learning French.
And, this is the last thing I swear, I’d like to sprint again at some point if you can, my braces appointment got moved to Wednesday but I think that it’s in the morning so I’d be able to sprint in the evening. Though you will probably see a lot of me complaining over how much my teeth hurt if we do it that day.:P

AHAHAHA THEY SHALL SUFFER AND SUFFER.

Yeah, I’m adding a ton of Japanese words into my novel, and it’s really upping the experience for my alphas (or so they say haha XD) Thanks for giving me that link! I still have it saved.

OW I GOT MY BRACES TIGHTENED ON TUESDAY AND IT HURRRRRT.

Sorry I missed that day! What other times work well for sprinting?

              • Blue February 7, 2018 at 11:20 pm - Reply

I took forever getting back to you, but I get off school at 2 or 3 these days, so I can probably sprint at any time after until 10:30 when I am forced to actually go to bed, except for maybe 6 through 7 or 8, because of dinner. But dinner isn’t at a specific time each day, just sometime in that time frame, and we watch Star Wars: Rebels (EZRA IS LIKE MY LIFEBLOOD KAY) so I’m the complicated one today! An tomorrow I am watching the opening of the olympics, I don’t know what time that’s gonna be but probably late. I guess probably Saturdays would work best, unless you’re willing to get up at 7 (I’m not allowed to set my alarm for earlier because… actually they never gave me a reason..) but then I’d only be able to sprint until 8:15 because duty calls!

                • Madison Grace February 9, 2018 at 6:58 pm - Reply

WAAAA NONE OF THOSE TIMES WORK FOR ME. *cries* What about… waking up early to sprint?

                  • Blue February 10, 2018 at 10:54 am - Reply

You know? Perhaps I shall break the rule of getting up before 7, I’ll put my headphones on my phone so nobody hears. ? So what time then?

                    • Madison Grace February 12, 2018 at 8:05 pm

I’m still trying to work out my wacky schedule — MY PARENTS NEVER STOP CHANGING IT ASDFGHJKL — but I’ll totally let you know. *wails*

                    • Blue February 17, 2018 at 6:07 pm

Alright, I’ll be refreshing this tab! (Also as of next week Saturdays won’t work until after sundown and Fridays won’t work after sundown because I’m going to start observing Shabbat, but I can wake up early any other day of the week as long as I don’t wake anyone else and I do my chores at 8:00 and I’m ready for school at 9:00)

                    • Madison Grace February 20, 2018 at 4:25 pm

I’m trying to figure out a writing schedule (I’m debating between lots of words one day a week or writing every day of the week) so I’ll let you know when I find one that works!

Before you tell me, here’s your fanart. I lost the picture of the other 2 baby AriKids so you get Jakuri-n and Akihiko and not Daigo and Yuri. Jakuri-n and Akihiko are cuter anyways:P
    http://i68.tinypic.com/2a6s45c.jpg
If you can’t read what Hinoki is saying (I didn’t draw him because I can’t really draw dudes) it says: “Ari! Jakuri-n got into your eyeliner and she put it on correctly! I thought we didn’t have to deal with the Terrible Teens until she was thirteen!”
Also, the chair that Akihiko is sitting on has some actual Hiragana characters.
    http://i63.tinypic.com/359aij5.jpg
(This is the ‘grown-up’ AriKids, Jakuri-n is 14 and Akihiko is ten.)
If you can’t read what Jakuri-n is reading, it says: “Akihiko, I will end you!” She’s holding a comb in one hand and her mask in the other.
    http://i63.tinypic.com/oaxhfl.jpg
If you can’t read what she’s saying now, she’s saying: “Mo-om, Akihiko put gum in my comb!”
    http://i68.tinypic.com/2ir3huf.jpg
If you can’t read what Ari’s saying, she’s saying: “Jakuri-n, put your mask back on. Akihiko, I swear if you put gum in her comb again I’m taking away your sword.”
Also sorry if I sounded whiny or complain-y in the first comment.
